The Flame malware or Flamer trojan or sKyWIper,
has been dubbed the most complex and sophisticated malware encountered
to-date – more complex than Duqu and Stuxnet. It is a backdoor, a
Trojan, and it has worm-like features, allowing it to replicate in a
local network and on removable media. The virus can not only steal data
but disrupt computers by removing critical files.
The trojan has been out in the wild
for around three years. It is made of a number of modules, totalling
up to 20 MB in code size and includes two info-stealer components that
are bundled with it, Flask and Jimmy. This is five times larger than the typical size of these malware programs. It can collect everything from text, screenshots to voice input data and transmits them in a compressed form to its creators.
Microsoft
has already released a Fix It solution and Automatic Updater for Flame
malware removal. If you think your computer may have been infected with
the Flamer trojan, you can download
and run the stand-alone BitDefender Flamer Removal Tool, 32-bit or the
64-bit, and find out if you’re infected with Flamer – the world’s
most discrete and dangerous piece of malware ever.
The BitDefender Flamer Removal Tool will scan your Windows computer for
this trojan. The scan will take a couple of minutes to run, and if any
malware is found, delete it. If not, at the end of the run, it will
simply remain open with a Scan completed sign!
